INSHORE FISHING

Inshore fishing is done in the shallow waters near the shorelines and these areas are mostly protected from large waves by the islands barrier reefs. These area’s are commonly called “the flats” for their relatively flat bottom. We cast live bait and or artificial lures to catch a variety of species that inhabit our waters. St. Croix’s variety of inshore flats fishing areas range from turtle grass beds, to sandy patch reef to mangrove shoreline and also small rivers. Then there are the islands barrier reefs that offer a wide variety of fishing opportunities.

There are several gamefish species that inhabit the shallow waters. Tarpon, bonefish, snook, and permit are here all year round as well as sharks, jack cravalle, several species of snapper, mackerel and barracuda. A typical fishing trip would have us fishing for multiple species using a variety of methods.

Spin fish or Fly fishing, whether landing your first salt water species or you have been fishing your whole life book us for a great day on the water. Also keep your eyes open because in the areas we fish, you may also see several species of turtles and sting rays.
